Spaghetti Sauce
Ingredients
- oil for frying
- 6 oz onion, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/4 tsp peri-peri
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 can tomato paste
- 300 ml water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
Directions
- Fry onion, garlic and peri-peri in a pot on medium heat until onion is soft
- Add ground beef and salt, and cook on medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until beef is browned
- Add tomato paste, water, sugar, basil, oregano, ketchup
- Stir well and bring to the boil, then simmer for 45 minutes
Notes
Substitute: Can substitute ketchup for other sweet acidic sauces - e.g., barbeque sauce, banana ketcup, HP sauce, chutney, or other condiment that needs to be used up.
