Bread Buns
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp active dried yeast
- 1 tbsp + 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup milk, warmed to 110 °F
- 2 tbsp dry malt extract (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 egg
- 3 cups flour
Directions
- Whisk yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar, and warm milk in a bowl
- Cover bowl with plastic plate and leave in warm place for 10+ minutes
- Add remaining sugar, malt, salt, oil, egg, and 1 cup flour to the yeast mixture
- Stir in while gradually adding remaining flour until consistency allows dough to be kneaded
- Knead dough on a floured surface for around 3 minutes
- Put dough in a oiled bowl, cover and leave for 1 hour
- Knead the dough on floured surface then divide into 12 pieces
- Roll each piece of dough into a bun, and distribute the buns evenly on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper
- Cover with a sheet of parchment paper and allow to rise in a warm place for 1 hour
- Bake at 350°F for 18 minutes, or until nicely browned
